Claude Code: Anthropic's AI Coding Agent Is Reshaping Developer Workflows

Anthropic made Claude Code generally available in early 2025, and enterprise software teams have adopted it fast. It is an AI coding agent that lives in the developer's terminal rather than in a chat window. Given an instruction in plain language, it reads files, runs tests, edits code across multiple files and manages git on its own.

The agent runs on Claude Sonnet 4 and Claude Opus 4, with Opus handling the harder multi-file rework. It also supports MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers, the standard way to plug an AI agent into other tools — Jira, Sentry, internal databases and more. That combination is proving compelling for software houses in Singapore that want to ship faster without hiring more people.

Early enterprise users report that Claude Code can build complete features — database changes, APIs, frontend components and the tests to cover them — in a single session with little back-and-forth. Anthropic's own benchmarks show Claude Sonnet 4 scoring over 70% on SWE-bench Verified, the standard test of real-world software engineering tasks. For Singapore's growing pool of AI-first software firms, Claude Code is becoming a core part of the toolchain rather than an optional extra.
