Anthropic announced its fourth Asia-Pacific office on 10 March 2026, opening in Sydney alongside existing hubs in Tokyo, Bengaluru, and Seoul (which opened earlier in 2026). The company has named Theo Hourmouzis — formerly Snowflake's SVP for Australia, New Zealand, and ASEAN — as its first ANZ general manager. Anthropic states its APAC run-rate revenue has grown more than tenfold over the past year, and the company telegraphed the expansion last September when it committed to tripling international headcount.

The Sydney remit covers enterprise, startup, and research customers across ANZ. Anthropic named Canva, Quantium, and Commonwealth Bank of Australia as flagship ANZ accounts and disclosed deeper platform partnerships — including Canva embedding its Design Engine into Claude and a multi-year deal putting Claude inside Xero's accounting platform. More consequentially for infrastructure, Anthropic said it is "exploring opportunities to expand compute capacity in Australia," likely via third-party data-centre operators — its first public signal of region-local inference infrastructure anywhere in APAC.

With no Anthropic office in Singapore yet, the ANZ team is now the closest go-to-market hub for Singapore enterprise buyers — and Hourmouzis's Snowflake ASEAN background suggests the Sydney team will actively cover Singapore accounts ahead of a dedicated Southeast Asia office. The "exploring Australia compute" line matters for SG firms with data-residency-sensitive workloads in finance and government: an APAC Claude region would materially shorten the latency and compliance gap versus today's US- and EU-hosted endpoints.
