Buyer Decision Checklist

Singapore is a major node in the global semiconductor supply chain — foundries, OSAT, IC design houses, EDA, and equipment vendors all operate here. Be precise about which value-chain segment you actually need, then pressure-test capability fit, lead times, and traceability before you commit.

How to evaluate a semiconductor supplier in Singapore

  • Pin down the value-chain segment first — foundry (wafers), OSAT (assembly, packaging, test), IC design, EDA tooling, or equipment/materials — because a vendor strong in one segment does not serve another.
  • Match the process node and specialty flow to your roadmap: Singapore leads on mature and specialty nodes (180nm-22nm, BCDMOS, eFlash, SiGe BiCMOS), so confirm the exact node and process are in production, not just planned.
  • Treat ISO 9001 as the baseline and demand the application-specific certificate scope — IATF 16949 for automotive, ISO 13485 for medical, AS9100 for aerospace/defence — and check the certificate covers the exact line and product family you will buy from.
  • Lock supply-chain resilience in writing: ask for current lead times, a capacity allocation or NCNR commitment, second-source or qualified-alternate options, and a documented escalation path if demand spikes.
  • Verify IP protection and traceability before sharing design data — a mutual NDA, IP-ownership terms in the MSA, lot-level traceability, and counterfeit-avoidance controls — and confirm alignment on minimum order quantities and the technology roadmap.
  • Ask whether the vendor is active in EDB / SSIA talent and capability programmes, since that signals a more stable Singapore engineering and operations pipeline behind your account.

Verify for Samsung

  • Confirm key details directly with the vendor — this listing isn't vendor-managed yet.
  • Ask for two recent Singapore client references you can speak with.
  • Ask for a written scope of services before comparing quotes.
  • Request evidence of relevant certifications and their current validity.

Questions to ask

  • Which exact process node, specialty flow, and certificate scope cover the line my product will run on?
  • What are your current lead times, minimum order quantities, and capacity or NCNR commitments — and is there a qualified second source?
  • How do you handle IP protection, NDAs, and lot-level traceability for fabless customers sharing design data?
  • Can you share two Singapore clients in my sector and volume tier that I can speak to as references?
