How to evaluate a structured cabling contractor in Singapore
- Spec the cable for the next 10-15 years, not just today: confirm whether the design uses Cat6A for 10 Gbps at 100m versus Cat6, and OM4/OM5 fibre for backbones and data-centre runs.
- Require a documented site survey, labelled patching plan, and as-built documentation as contracted deliverables, and design data-centre work to TIA-942 / ISO/IEC 11801 rather than to spec alone.
- Make certified test reports the trigger for final payment: insist on Fluke DSX-series copper certification per link and OTDR loss reports per fibre strand at handover, since these are your evidence for any warranty claim years later.
- Separate the manufacturer warranty from the contractor warranty: verify certified-partner status with Panduit / CommScope / R&M / Belden and require the 20-25 year application-assurance warranty be issued in your name.
- Verify Singapore worksite credentials directly rather than from a logo: bizSAFE Level 3+ for WSH compliance, and BCA registration (Class W04) where larger or government projects require it.
- Pin down after-hours work, building-management coordination, and end-of-lease reinstatement in writing, and confirm pathways and capacity for future Wi-Fi, CCTV, and data-centre growth.
